Six-week pottery classes

Six week wheel throwing Intermediate course.

-Schedule-

Week 1- Re-cap

Learn about clay and the studio, learn to prep clay, weigh clay, posture, centering and pulling walls, wiring off and clean up.

Week 2-Throwing Sets.

Learn to throw with intention, bowl forms, cylinder, T.Bowl forms. Throwing in sets.

Week 3- Lidded Jars.

Trimming with chucks, a look at throwing lidded jars

Week 4- Larger and Smaller.

Throwing larger and smaller weightsof clay, a look at throwing closed forms.

Week 5- Combbined Forms.

Trimming, a look at combined thrown forms.

Week 6- Final Trimming.

Final day for trimming so pieces can be bisqued for glaze extra week. Start to look at glazing.

Bonus week- Glazing.

An extra session for glazing. Learn about glaze makeup, oxides, application techniques, matte vs glossy, and the term 'food safe'. Glaze your pieces to be picked up in 2 weeks. 

 

Six week wheel throwing Beginner course.

-Schedule-

Week 1- The Basics.

Learn about clay and the studio, learn to prep clay, weigh clay, posture, centering and pulling walls, wiring off and clean up.

Week 2- Intentional Throwing.

Throw cylinders and bowls, throw with intention, throw to trim.

Week 3- Trimming.

Learn to trim, to discover form, foot rings, levelling rims, slip application and handling.

Week 4- Plate Forms.

Discover plate forms and throwing on Batts, slip application and trimming.

Week 5-Throwing New Forms.

Final throwing day for bowls plates and mug, lidded jar forms.

Week 6- Final Trimming

Final day for trimming so pieces can be bisqued for glaze extra week. Start to look at glazing.
