Saggar Smoke-Fired Bowl with Gold Leaf – Sutton Hoo River Collection - No. 11

Price

£60.00

Hand-thrown and truly one of a kind, this saggar smoke-fired bowl was created on a traditional Leach Kick Wheel using approximately one pound of clay and fired on the banks of the river opposite the ancient magical landscape of Sutton Hoo.

Crafted using time-honoured studio pottery techniques, the bowl is wheel-thrown, carefully refined by hand, and transformed through an atmospheric saggar firing process. During firing, carbonates, mineral salts, local seaweed, and gathered flora and fauna from the surrounding riverside environment are placed around the piece, allowing smoke, minerals, and organic materials to leave their distinctive traces on the clay.
